Supportive Housing Projects

█    TINY HOME VILLAGE

Hope of the Valley’s stated mission is to prevent, reduce and end poverty, hunger and homelessness by offering immediate assistance and long-term solutions. During the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, they have responded to the urgent need for housing and collaborated with the City of Los Angeles in opening a Navigation Center, a Job Center, and Bridge Housing Shelters. In addition, they opened Covid-19 shelters, housing trailers, and Park Recreation Centers.

This year, Hope of the Valley has opened the first ever Tiny Home Villages in the City of Los Angeles. Each home is 64 square feet and features 2 beds, heat, air-conditioning, windows, a desk, and a front door. Onsite provides hot meals, showers, case management, housing navigation, mental health, job training and placement. Hope of the Valley aims for Tiny Home Villages to further develop during the rest of the year.

█    MLK1101

To address the housing crisis for low-income households, veterans, and the chronic homeless in Los Angeles, LOHA has teamed up with Clifford Beers Housing to convert a wasted, unused lot into an affordable housing community.

MLK1101 Supportive Housing states that their goal is to create an environment that encourages health and community and acknowledge that successful social spaces come through a variation of green design strategies. Their work features high-efficient heating and cooling, appliances and fixtures, solar water heating, community spaces, electric vehicle charging and bike parking. The units are designed for all individuals and families, ranging from one to three bedrooms each with their own bathroom, kitchens, and living spaces.

█    THE BLOCK PROJECT

The BLOCK Project’s community-based initiative is to offer homeowners a program where they can donate part of their backyard for a BLOCK Home to be built and help end homelessness. While the BLOCK Project is located in Seattle, their template will be available across the nation and help develop a positive foundation for future generations by providing ongoing support and compassion to hosts, neighbors, and residents.
